Journal Responce #18
The first thing I would change about our high school campus is the discrimination. About two months ago, I came into a situation where I couldn't open my locker, for I had forgotten my combination. One of my friends suggested for me to ask the ASB Vice Principle to open it with a locker key. I went and ask the ASB Principle and she said she didn't have a key, the only thing I could do is for one of her assistants to break it off and buy another. I said that I would think about it, as I walked away it occurred to me to visit my old english teacher, to talk to him about my situation. He advised me to the janitor for help. I explained to the janitor my situation and he explained to me that the ASB Principle was about to take advantage of me, for he had a key. Another occurrence that happened with the administrator taking advantage of money, was when a club at the school was selling snacks at the school and at football games to which the club has made more money than the ASB. She then prohibited the club from selling during school hours, only during the football games. For the club, this change was fine, until she decided to gather ASB students to sell during the games. If I were to change one thing about our school campus it would be the ASB swindle of students. The second thing I would change about our high school campus is the citizenship grading policy. Even though students do all of their work, and are polite in class many of them receive F's if they walk to class late. It is inequitable for teachers to give their students unsatisfactory grades, for a tedious reason. Many students have to cross the border to get to school everyday, which is unfair if something happens while they are trying to cross. Recently there has been shootings, and a piece of the border collapsing while crossing in the morning. In what way should the students be lower a grade, if they are unable to get to school on time for these reasons? If students weren't dedicated in learning, why would they wake up every morning to go to school? For which, I believe that our campus should change the citizenship policy, so people won't get lowered for walking in class late.
